Going Gray!

Posted by in Going Gray!

I have thought of doing this several times, but I haven’t ever really pursued the idea. Yesterday I had my first appointment at Oasis. I could only do a cut yesterday, and I am scheduled for a color on Tuesday. One of the stylists in the salon yesterday had great hair – gray, long and curly! I asked her if she had ever dyed or if she had to transition. She told me she had transitioned and has a book about it coming out in December. That isn’t going to…read more

Easter 2017

Posted by in Uncategorized

Easter 2016 I as in Central Texas. Easter 2017 is a whole new world. The last eight years, I had lived where there were no azalea bushes or dogwood trees. They are both very beautiful here! So gorgeous! I haven’t found a great church here. I didn’t want to go to visit a church and look like one of those people that only show up one time a year, you know? Earlier in the week, I had seen a sign that said that there was a sunrise service at Mount…read more

Missing Blogging & A Snow Day!

Posted by in Uncategorized

I so want to be consistent about blogging. I keep failing at that. We have been here for almost a year, and I haven’t blogged in 10 months. So many amazing things have happened since July of last year. Hmm, maybe I can go back and post some of the fun things and post new things too. Posts will be a little random, but that should make things interesting. Right? Snow days are a little different here than they are in Texas. At least, the first small one was – it…read more

Texas, Our Texas

Posted by in Uncategorized

You can take a girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl.  I guess those are words are true! When we moved in and started unpacking, there were lots of things that seemed to go together, although they had not been together before. Before, we had the loft, where there were lots of things I liked. We don’t really have that here. I decided to do something a little different and group those things into decorating. The first room is our Texas Guest Room. We…read more

Two of our Favorite Things about Virginia

Posted by in Uncategorized

When we found out we were being transferred to the DC area, I messaged our good friend, Shannon, and told her the news. We asked where we she live. She, of course, said my her. She and Dean did most of the ground work for the house hunt with our realtor. Dean headed home (via Arkansas for fishing) before we had a for sure place to live. The one we were going to settle for was not very close to our friends. A couple of nights later, on Dean’s last…read more

The Dogs Love the New House and Yard

Posted by in Uncategorized

The girls are really enjoying the yard. It is so big! There are no privacy fences, so they are able to be very, very social! They also really like chasing the squirrels and birds. You can watch the video of them here: IMG_1414-2 The windows are just right for them to look out and to bark at all of the neighbors who pass. I put boxes in front of the windows, and they move up to the upper level to be able to see over the box! Crazy girls.

The “Big” Bathroom

Posted by in Uncategorized

Of course one of the first rooms you have to do in a house is the bathroom. The pretty shower curtain hides the very attractive pink and black tile in the tub. Thankfully, the tub was white! We reused the bathroom rugs and the dirty clothes hamper Joy Anna had in college. Since the photo was taken, we have moved it out into the hall as it was blocking the vent.

Seeing the House for the First Time

Posted by in Uncategorized

When we arrived, we were so happy to see the house. It really feels bigger than it is – or at least it did until I got my furniture in  (pics of that to come!) We were pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous roses all in the front yard.

A pantry where there was no pantry

Posted by in Uncategorized

The kitchen is very tiny. Minuscule might be a better word. There are only a few cabinets and one open shelving where the wall oven was. The new stove took up a lot of counter space and all of the drawers. We are working on the kitchen. One of the big problems was we had was no pantry! There is one closet at the bottom of the stairs out side of the kitchen. It has carpet in, so I wasn’t sure how that was going to work. We decided it…read more

A New Start

Posted by in Shaping Up, Uncategorized

As much as I hate the phrase about starting a diet and the way that it gets a bad rap for starting on Monday, it is time to get back in control of healthy eating and exercising. Of course I would do that when I am so tired and exercising seems like the worst idea in the world! The last few months have taken a toll on my eating habits. There were so many “We have to eat there one last time” and sometimes that ended up being two or…read more
