Working on Goals

Posted by in Uncategorized

A couple my goals for this year were to cook more healthy meals and to spend more time with Dean. I managed to do that today! Stay tuned until the end of the post as you get two recipes tonight (one healthy, one not so much!) We started out the morning at our regular Saturday morning spot in Hutto. After breakfast, we came home and I started working. Dean thinks I work too much at home. When you do most of your work at home, it happens! He suggested we…read more

Texas Inauguration 2015

Posted by in Uncategorized

Dean and I had the privilege to attend the 2015 Texas Inauguration yesterday. It was really good day. We met a lot of really nice Texans who are very proud of their state. We ate really good BBQ from Eddie Deen. I confess to really enjoying a scoop of potato salad and buttermilk pie. The BBQ was good, too. We watched a parade featuring entries from all over the great state of Texas, I was very impressed with Dan Patrick. He said he was a Christian first, then a conservative…read more

Cold Days Call for Hot Soup

Posted by in Uncategorized

Wednesdays are BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) days for me. I was up early so I could be there on time. So much for me following plan. I was ready to go, and I remembered, I really wanted to put soup in the crockpot. I grabbed all the ingredients and got to chopping – after I took the photo of said ingredients. I must say that remembering to take photos of the phases, certainly takes longer. Oops! I just realized I forgot to take one of the finished product.  There are…read more

A Real Winner Chicken Dinner

Posted by in Cooking, Healthier Choices, Shaping Up

We have logged in quite a few miles since we got our new shoes this week. I get more normal steps, so I haven’t walked quite as far as Dean in the evenings. I also have been taking classes at the gym. I am doing my best to eat healthy. I am trying with Dean, but he still picks out what he wants for lunches, so I am thinking he might not be making the wisest choices. This exercise thing takes a lot of time! It wears me out, and…read more

New Shoes, New Workout Plan, New Recipe

Posted by in Cooking, Healthier Choices

The New Year usually means changes for most of us. In my last post, here. I did sort of line out my plans for where I want to be at the end of the year, so that meant there would have to be changes. A large part of that is getting fit. Over the last almost two years, I have lost 90 pounds. The first 30, I did with diet and exercise. Then, I got sick with two rounds of shingles. Not the best way to spend the last four…read more

Kicking off 2015

If you know me at all, you know I am a planner, but things seldom go as planned! My intention was to write this yesterday on the first day of 2015. Instead, I spent most of the day trying to revamp the look of the blog.  That didn’t go too well, so I never got around to writing this. And so, here I am on January 2, 2015 writing about the New Year. I guess that isn’t too late. At least it isn’t March! Lots of time in the car…read more

December 31, 2014 Closing out 2014

Posted by in Family, Marriage

My blogging during 2014 was almost nonexistent. I want to make changes for 2015, but I will wait until tomorrow to write about those. For tonight, I will spend a little time recapping the past year. January: I started Ideal Protein and really started making changes in my health journey. Model search started for 2015 Models. Dean and I had a blast at Architecture of Air in Austin February: Eric and Ashley bought their first house. Dean bought a sports car. We made a trip to Shreveport to visit Darlene, James…read more
