Rockin' The Empty Nest

The Move and Arrival in VA

Posted by in Family

We were really pushing to get finished with packing and senior portraits in time to get to Virginia for Dean to start to work. We had planned to leave on Thursday afternoon and drive to Texarkana. You know what they say about the best laid plans. We were really late pulling out. Dean had to stop by and take the sign down off the studio. We met at Buccees for gas. By that time, we were both pretty wiped out, so we decided to stop in Waco. Yep! We made…read more

Kicking off 2015

Posted by in Healthier Choices, Marriage, Shaping Up, Siesta Scripture Memory Team, Uncategorized

If you know me at all, you know I am a planner, but things seldom go as planned! My intention was to write this yesterday on the first day of 2015. Instead, I spent most of the day trying to revamp the look of the blog.  That didn’t go too well, so I never got around to writing this. And so, here I am on January 2, 2015 writing about the New Year. I guess that isn’t too late. At least it isn’t March! Lots of time in the car…read more

December 31, 2014 Closing out 2014

Posted by in Family, Marriage

My blogging during 2014 was almost nonexistent. I want to make changes for 2015, but I will wait until tomorrow to write about those. For tonight, I will spend a little time recapping the past year. January: I started Ideal Protein and really started making changes in my health journey. Model search started for 2015 Models. Dean and I had a blast at Architecture of Air in Austin February: Eric and Ashley bought their first house. Dean bought a sports car. We made a trip to Shreveport to visit Darlene, James…read more

Communion Sunday

Posted by in Family, Walking with Jesus

Communion Sunday was today. For all of my ‘always been Baptist’ friends, that is also the Lord’s Supper Sunday. Communion Sundays are my favorite Sundays! When we went to the Methodist Church, we had Communion every first Sunday. I liked that. I also liked how personal it was. Usually the person who was serving knew my name. When they handed me the element, they would say my name. “Pam, His Body broken for you!”  and “Pam, His Blood shed for you!” No, they didn’t shout- the exclamation mark was my…read more

Sparkly Green Earrings

Posted by in Family, Walking with Jesus

You must check out the book “Sparkly Green Earrings” by Melanie Shankle! It is not secret that I enjoy reading. I enjoy reading almost as much as I enjoy photography (okay, maybe I enjoy it more because there is less paperwork involved!). A week or so ago “Sparkly Green Earrings” was free for the day. I have hundreds (maybe thousands) of free books on my Kindle app on my iPhone. Since it was free and also “Christian.” I ‘bought’ it. I’ll be honest, a lot of the free books are…read more

Happy New Year and New Blog!

Posted by in Family, Photography

Yes, I have done it again. I have started a new blog. This time, I actually purchased the name. I plan to keep it and keep Rockin’ the Empty Nest with Dean. Today has been a drab and dreary day here in Round Rock, Texas. It has been made even more dreary by me waking up feeling bad. That means, we won’t get to celebrate with our family this evening. We’ll hang out together. What a difference a year makes! This time last year, we were in Tennessee getting ready…read more
